Soil
pollution:
The concept
of soil pollution refers to all forms of pollution affecting any type of soil
(agricultural, forestry, urban ...).
Polluted
soil in turn becomes a possible source of direct or indirect diffusion of
pollutants into the environment, via water, dust, gaseous emissions or through
a reconcentration and transfer of pollutants by living organisms (bacteria,
fungi , plants in turn eaten by animals.
For example,
in the early 2000s, France estimates that 230,000 sites are known to have been
polluted or potentially polluted by industry or services in country 1, of which
nearly 4,000 are monitoring, diagnostic or rehabilitation measures 1. To this
should be added the old municipal landfill sites (at least one for each of the
36 000 communes), and pollution from military, agricultural, hunting and other
sources.
