Risk
prevention in business: what are the benefits?
676,700
employees were arrested on an ad hoc or definitive basis after a workplace
accident in 2012. This figure decreased by 8.23% in 2014 thanks to increased
investment in training. But a figure always too important when we know the
consequences that entails for the company. In France, the SMEs are the most
affected, and the construction sector. To reduce accidents it is necessary to
implement a prevention approach and we will see what the benefits are.
PREVENTION,
WHAT IS IT?
This
consists in adopting an appropriate attitude and putting in place measures to
prevent a situation from deteriorating or a disaster (accident, epidemic,
illness, etc.) to occur. It concerns all the actors of the company. Prevention
must be structured and put in place at the earliest.
WHAT ARE THE
BENEFITS OF PREVENTION?
Compensation,
absence and replacement of the employee, loss of productivity and
competitiveness ... An accident at work can quickly be very expensive for the
company and become a real burden. On the other hand, according to a study
carried out by Eurostat, the companies having put in place a prevention
approach saw an increase of their performance thanks in particular to:
A decrease
in work accidents following safety training,
A decrease
in the absenteeism rate and an increase in productivity, thanks to an
improvement of the working conditions and environment, the introduction of
personal protective equipment,
Investments
that optimize the different production processes, improve the working conditions
of employees and thus prevent risks,
Investments
in training that enabled employees to develop new knowledge and skills,
A reduction
in health costs thanks to the introduction of complementary health insurance,
A compliance
of their activity with the regulations.
